About Me

Robbie Ely, CPA

I am a CPA with 22 years of accounting experience, including:

  • Non-profit finance
  • Government grant financial management
  • Auditing
  • Board reporting
  • Budgeting
  • Much more! Ask me!

I graduated from Chico State University in Northern California in 2000, with a degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems, and spent the following eight years in a large regional CPA firm, where I eventually rose to the position of Senior Manager. I loved that job and considered a path to ownership whereby I could spend my entire career there. Having spent my life to that point in small towns in Oregon and Northern California, I decided to see what else was out there for me, so in 2008 I gave my firm six months’ notice, and on the 4th of July started driving East with virtually no plans.

I stopped in Austin, Texas, which was a relatively small, free-spirited city at the time. I discovered a wide range of opportunities in the non-profit world and have spent the past 14 years working in non-profit finance. I found a passion for the field, but a special passion and a knack for particular projects and tasks; often ones that others weren’t interested in taking on. I would find myself working all night at times simply because I was having too much fun solving these problems.

RSA Consulting, named for my first initial and those of my wife and son, I hope will be the culmination of what I have learned about the field and about myself. I want to empower organizations through the skills and passions I have found over the past two decades. I’m genuine, honest, curious, and energetic, and I want to share the knowledge and devotion to service that I’ve acquired with organizations that can benefit from them.
